A new single-handed inserter (SHI) for placement of Liletta has been introduced and is currently available (FIGURE 1). Liletta is a levonorgestrel 52-mg intrauterine system (IUS) that is currently approved for 3 years of use as a contraceptive in the United States.

What are the side effects of long term use of Liletta?
If a significant change in bleeding develops during prolonged use, conduct diagnostic tests to assess possible endometrial pathology. Some serious complications with IUSs like LILETTA are sepsis, perforation, and expulsion.
