Do Spektrum transmitters work with other receivers?
You cannot use JR/Spektrum transmitters with any other manufacturers receivers. You cannot use JR/Spektrum receivers with any other manufacturers transmitters. The same is true for every other 2.4 Radio manufacturer such as Airtronics, Hitec, Futaba, etc.
Will DSM2 transmitter work with DSMX receiver?
Yes. DSM2 transmitters are forward compatible with DSMX receivers, and DSMX transmitters are backward compatible with DSM2 receivers.

Can a DSM2 port be converted to a Futaba port?
I developed an adapter board which converts the PPM signal from a Futaba trainer port to a Spektrum DM8 DSM2 module or an OrangeRX DSM2/DSMX module (please read the note at the end of the post regarding the OrangeRX module). This is a non-intrusive to the module version of the mod I showed here.
How to connect a trainer port to a DSMx module?
Plug the adapter connector to the trainer port of the transmitter. Next you will need to bind the receivers or BNFs to the module.
Is the orangerx module compatible with the Futaba AETR?
If you decide to use the OrangeRX module you will need to re-flash it using this USB Firmware Update Kit. This allows the module to remap the channel assignment from Futaba’s AETR to Spektrum/JR’s TAER which is important if you want to fly Spektrum’s UMX BNF models and your transmitter does not support channel remapping (4YF, 4YBF, 6EX, 7C, 9C).
Is the square micro trainer connector compatible with Futaba?
