What is Stesolid used for?
It is used in the treatment of severe anxiety and tension states, as a sedative and premedication, in the control of muscle spasm, and in the management of alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
How do you give Stesolid?
Hold one buttock gently to one side so that you can see the back passage. Gently inset the nozzle (neck of the tube) of the applicator into the back passage, pointing it slightly downwards. RecTube® nozzles and Desitin® tubes should be inserted halfway. Stesolid® tubes have marks on the nozzle to guide you.
What is diazepam suppository used for?
This medication is used to treat episodes of increased seizures (such as cluster or breakthrough seizures) in people who are already taking medications to control their seizures. This product is only recommended for short-term treatment of seizure attacks.
How long before bed should I take diazepam?
Some people may only have to take diazepam for one day, for instance before they have an operation. You should not normally be prescribed diazepam for more than four weeks. If you are taking diazepam to help you sleep, you should take it just before bedtime. Diazepam can be taken before or after food.
How long can you stay on diazepam?
Diazepam is usually only recommended for a short period of time of up to 4 weeks. If you’re prescribed diazepam for more than 4 weeks, your dose may be reduced gradually to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Is it safe to take long term? It’s usual to take diazepam for no longer than 2 to 4 weeks.
How fast do you push diazepam?
Inject slowly, taking at least 1 minute for each 5 mg. If it is not feasible to administer diazepam directly intravenous, may inject slowly through the infusion tubing as close as possible to the vein insertion. Take extreme care to avoid extravasation or intraarterial administration.
When should you not take diazepam?
Uncontrolled seizures can turn into serious (possibly fatal) seizures that do not stop (status epilepticus). Diazepam is not recommended for children younger than 6 months of age because of the risk of serious side effects.
How long does it take for diazepam to take effect?
Diazepam will work quite quickly or more slowly depending on what you’re taking it for: fits – diazepam rectal tubes should start to work within 10 minutes. anxiety – you should start to feel a bit better within a few hours, but it may take a week or two for you to feel the full effects.
